Monetary policy in Romania: challenges and options

Dragulin, Ion and Radulescu, Eugen
An analysis of the extent to which monetary policy ensures price stability. It argues that the government’s interference and the feebleness of banks has made progress difficult. It considers other potential pillars of stabilisation, citing fiscal, income or exchange rate policies. The article finishes with an assessment of the major obstacles to rendering monetary policy efficient.
