Strengthening role of independent social research and expert's networks in Belarus

Manaev, Oleg and Sasnow, Alexander et al
According to the authors, in recent years Belarusian thinks tanks have moved from cautious co-operation with the government to open confrontation. They compare the increasing public distrust of the government with the trust that independent researchers enjoy, making them a powerful influence on public opinion. The authorities understand the potential role of independent think tanks and, so say the authors, they are busily creating new ways to hinder their activities. As the title implies, the authors seek to strengthen ties between researchers as a means of countering government interference.
